We would like to thank all of the exhibitors, sponsors, speakers, partners and delegates of GTDW China Trade Development Week for your continued support.

We have received many queries as to potential postponement of the event due to COVID-19 and we make our position clear, we have NO plans to postpone.

While we accept that COVID-19 presents new challenges and while we have a comprehensive contingency plan in place we are committed to follow WHO advice which is:

WHO continues to advise against the application of travel or trade restrictions to countries experiencing COVID-19 outbreaks. In general, evidence shows that restricting the movement of people and goods during public health emergencies is ineffective in most situations and may divert resources from other interventions. Furthermore, restrictions may interrupt needed aid and technical support, may disrupt businesses, and may have negative social and economic effects on the affected countries. However, in certain circumstances, measures that restrict the movement of people may prove temporarily useful, such as in settings with few international connections and limited response capacities.

With OECD estimating that Coronavirus escalation could cut global economic growth in half during 2020 we at GTDW are committed with our local and international partners to provide a powerful and timely platform delivering critical solutions, alliances and technologies for trade to our visitors and much needed new business opportunities for our exhibitors and sponsors.

Our pillars of GTDW around Safe, Secure & Smart Trade are essential during the current period and resonate clearly the requirements for digitalisation, standardisation and interoperability of trade technologies to reduce many of the supply chain affects of the current COVID-19 situation.

Mindful of our duty of care we remain in close consultation with experts in China and also in partnership with the venue in Shanghai to provide appropriate sanitary, health and other measures. We assure you we will do everything possible to keep the event as safe as possible.

While we have no control over the wider damage that hype, speculation and over reaction may cause. In the words of Gloria Guevara, President & CEO, World Travel & Tourism Council, ‘Containing the spread of unnecessary panic is as important as stopping the virus itself’.

However while we assure you of this, until we are told ‘not to’ and whilst we continue to receive daily registrations and exhibition bookings allowing us to be 100% ahead of this time last year, we will apply common sense, take the advice of authorities and deliver you an outstanding show.

We look forward to welcoming your participation with us in Shanghai Pudong, 16-18 June 2020
